Why learn to code

Have you wondered why learning to code or program is a hot topic of conversation in Education and Industry?

As the use of technology becomes more prevalent in all areas of our lives, so does the focus on STEM fields.  STEM- Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, is the most spoken about field of study.

Many companies, large or small, are encouraging employees at all levels to update their skills.  "Retooling" and becoming familiar and even proficient users or creators of these new technologies is a necessary step in an effort to stay relevant in today's economy.

STEM is the field of interest for many educational institutions. Many enrichment programs are offering classes ranging from teaching block coding, Python and JavaScript to programming Robots for competitions. Learning centers like ours, Brain Bytes Academy, are offering a myriad of creative, fun filled lessons for kids as young as 5 years old, teaching them the ropes to become literate in the language of the future, computer programming.

The answer lies on what the world looks like now and what we envision to look in the future. All devices, from a watch to our home systems to our cars, are all connected, producing mounds of data.  The need for engineers and programmers to keep these technologies going and invent new ones is increasing. Data Scientists will be valuable as they mine this data and come up with insights to bring solutions to existing problems.

The world is morphing to something new due to the extremely fast technology changes. That is why  STEM education is ever more important.
